Web design certification

Exam Ref 70-480: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3

I is it a good idea to get a certification for web design?

And I would like to get more information on it. Thanks

I don't believe it is required in my opinion, I believe this is the kind of industry where you can easily demonstrate the skills you have to employers without the need for formal certification. Having a great Portfolio site with lots of different projects showing various skills should suffice as well as a social media presence in the web industry and also a devotion to keeping up with the changes in the industry.

This is just my opinion and is in no way factual. Interested to hear other peoples thoughts on this too.

I agree with Adam Sackfield. Create an awesome portfolio, and leave a trail of amazing work. I too strongly feel in this world, certifications mean very little, people just wan to know what you can do.

Right now, it's probably not. Certification programs in general are not reliable or looked upon as valuable in the web industry.

The exam you referenced is part of a series of 3 exams required to earn a MCSD: Web Apps a certification from Microsoft in being certified to develop .Net applications. If you are interesting in specializing in .Net it might be useful otherwise
