So I have been looking at some web hosting options and I came across this one on Gandi.net
https://www.gandi.net/hosting/simple?language=php&db=mysql
It makes you choose between PHP, node.js, pyhton, and Ruby under languages?
What is all that about? Web hosts like godaddy, namecheap, or webhostingforstudents (used in the teamtreehouse how to make a website course) dont make you choose.

What type of website are you trying to host?
I have never come across Gandi.net before. However, they are offering hosting for more complex websites such as web applications and sites built using different languages and frameworks.
If you are looking to host a simple website written with HTML, CSS and JS then I recommend using a standard hosting site like webhostingforstudents etc. They will be cheaper and easier to set up.
If you are hosting a web application that uses a programming language to run it's backend then I recommend using a site like Heroku, Digital Ocean or EngineYard. I have used all of these to host Ruby on Rails applications and they are all good options (and well-known).
Hope this helps

4,432 PointsI'm trying to host a couple simple websites written in HTML, CSS, and JS. The people I'm building a websites for want two such websites (a band website, and a small business website). Do you think I should have them get a webhostingstudentsaccount then? The student package for $50 a year is cheapest I've seen. Or do you think a website like bluehost, hostgator, namecheap, or godaddy will be better for them?
I'll also follow your advise and stay away from Gandhi, I'd rather not deal with the confusion.
Thanks so much again

Courses Plus Student 11,734 PointsFor those sorts of websites, I would recommend getting a webhostingforstudents hosting account. Some of the Godaddy and Namecheap hosting are cheap, but really slow..
webhostingforstudents gives a good standard of hosting and speed for it's pricetag.

HostGator
and find that it works just as well as sites like webhostingforstudents.
