WebClient implements the IDisposable interface indirectly!

Didn't we actually have to use the Dispose() method on the webClient object to release the used memory or at least put the definition in an using-statement?

I think it's a mistake. You should never leave a instance in your code which is not collected by the garbage collector, just like this.
