What about windows users?

I use windows and would like to be able to program objective C. I just began watching the videos in the IOS development and noticed he uses x-code, a mac based program. What is a windows user like myself supposed to use if I can't use xcode?

If you are going to actually get a Mac though, I read that if you are going to use it as your main coding machine, you will want at least 8 gigs of ram. That will mostly apply to the ones that actually will run multiple things at once like server and database and whatever else your heart desires. I've been looking at Macs myself in order to get into the apple store market, but until I learn to code I see no reason to enter that market, plus the Visual Studio 2013 for Windows Phone and OS looks and works amazing, compare to other editors. Similar to X-code it is available only on Windows.

if you want to develop iOS apps, you will need a mac. You can use a service such as MacInCloud if you dont want to buy a mac. There may be some other windows alternatives for c/objective c compilers like Cygwin but ultimately if you want to make an app, you need a mac.

Okay thank you for your answer. Looks like I better start saving some dough.

here that may have other solutions. If I were in your situation and were serious about developing for iOS i would get mac mini, maybe even a used/refurbished one.

Apple isn't in the market of catering to Windows users. Stone Preston linked to some good alternatives as well.
