What am I doing wrong?

It says: "Bummer! You need to add a <php ... ?> tag that echoes the value in $movie["title"] within the <h1> element." What happened?

index.php
<?php
$movie = array(
"title" => "The Empire Strikes Back",
);
?>

<h1>
  <?php
  echo $movie["title"] ;
  ?>
  (1985)
</h1>

<table>
  <tr>
    <th>Director</th>
    <td>Robert Zemeckis</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <th>IMDB Rating</th>
    <td>8.5</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <th>IMDB Ranking</th>
    <td>53</td>
  </tr>
</table>

I think it's being irrational. I copied your code and got the same error. The following works:

<?php
$movie = array(
    "title" => "The Empire Strikes Back",
);
?>

<h1><?php echo $movie["title"]; ?>(1985)</h1>

<table>
  <tr>
    <th>Director</th>
    <td>Robert Zemeckis</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <th>IMDB Rating</th>
    <td>8.5</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <th>IMDB Ranking</th>
    <td>53</td>
  </tr>
</table>

The error seems to be related purely to formatting. I emailed treehouse to get their opinion on whether this is a bug.

You shouldn't put a space between the ";" and the end of your statement. It probably expects some sort of argument there.

Faced same issue after adding "year" item in main array. Solution: There are 2 php tags that are required as below: <h1><?php echo $movie["title"]; ?> (<?php echo $movie["year"]?>)</h1>
