What am I doing wrong for "pies.html?"

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>Lists and Links</title>
  </head>
  <body>

    <li><ul><a href="cakes.html">Cakes</a></ul></li>
    <li><ul><a href="pies.html">Pies</a></ul></li>
    <li><ul><a href="candy.html">Candy</a></ul></li>

  </body>
</html>

That's wrong syntax for lists. The correct syntax (for an unordered list) is:

<ul>
  <li>Item A</li>
  <li>Item B</li>
  <li>Item C</li>
</ul>
