What am I doing wrong here

<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset = "utf-8"> </head> <body> </body> </html>

I typed in <!DOCTYPE html> and it went through. Are you copying and pasting or typing it in? If so, try typing it in. Also, make sure there aren't any spaces in front of the doctype and that it's on line 1. Some of the code challenges are a little persnickety.

i think there is a bug in your system. My code doesn't check. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset = "UTF-8"> <title></title> </head> <body> </body> </html>

I tried the same thing again but submitting the code through a different platform. It worked fine.
