iOS Swift Basics (retired) Collections What is an Array?

What are the brackets used for?

The brackets enclosed the array, but what do they mean? I'm trying not to get them cofused with the parentheses. Thanks in advance

the brackets [] denote the array. they let you tell the computer that you are referring to an array. that is their purpose. () are usually used for strings and {} are usually used for hashes. you will remember the difference as you code more because they are not interchangeable and will become prolific friends in debugging error messages.

{} are usually used for hashes

FYI, Swift uses [] for hash.

I identify {} from PHP and JS as Objects. What is a hash?
