What are the equivalent DOS commands in windows for "rm", "mkdir"?

I can not continue with the tutorial if I can not run commands like,

$mkdir -p spec/features/todo_lists

I get an syntax error in windows: "The syntax of the command is incorrect."

Windows doesn't need the -p flag for mkdir and the sort-of equivalent for rm is del.

The commands are ok the difference is that in windows you should use backslashes () on the Cmder. Beware though when you refer to a web address since you should use regular slashes (/).
