What are Ticks?

Didn't really understand the concept.

I just checked the transcript (@3:28).

You saw DateTime earlier, it has a property on it called ticks. DateTime.Now.Ticks, ticks are 1/10,000 of a millisecond.

Thanks but what I meant was what is the relationship between time and the integer value of DateTime.Now.Ticks?
