What did I do wrong?

I do not see a mistake in the code, it also works when I switch around the $role string... what did I do wrong?

switch.php
<?php
//Available roles: admin, editor, author, subscriber
if (!isset($role)) {
    $role = 'admin';
}

//change to switch statement
switch ($role) {
  case ($role != 'admin'):
    echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administrator.";
    break;
  default:
    echo "As an admin, you can add, edit, or delete any post.";
    break;
}

You are trying to write your switch case like an if statement. Instead of using conditional operators you just use the values you are checking for

<?php
//Available roles: admin, editor, author, subscriber
if (!isset($role)) {
    $role = 'admin';
}

//change to switch statement
switch ($role) {
  case 'admin':
    echo "As an admin, you can add, edit, or delete any post.";
    break;
  default:
    echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administrator.";
    break;
}

This is the correct answer and will echo "As an admin, you can add, edit, or delete any post." if the variable $role (the variable we passed in in the switch declaration) equals admin. The default case will be run if none of the other cases are met. So in your example the code inside the default will run if the variable $role doesn't equal "admin"
