What do I do if I don't have a domain yet?

In the video you have webconfs.me. Do i need a registered domain or can i just do something generic?

you can run a xampp server on your local computer.

www.noip.com Is a popular free dns service.

At that point you just need a host, which could be your own computer with server software like Apache or IIS. Or a raspberry pie running linux.
