I work as web developer and as such I ....well like web stuff. I am also really interested in Android development. I have never been really into Design as I don't have that sort of skills. What I mean is that I can say that something is ugly but I cannot make it beautiful.
What about you? What are you interested in?

8,600 PointsDevelopment / Back end.
I like creating large scale database driven websites on my own bespoke CMS solutions. I enjoy backend programming, current trends are driving more towards javascript and front end design, we are getting to the point where a back end development framework releases and graphics designers cry and whinge at the developers if it isn't as easy to use as wordpress.
In my opinion Wordpress and most other pre-made CMS are awful and I enjoy creating more suitable bespoke solutions for large high traffic websites where peformance is key.

8,600 PointsI actually disagree with that.
I see a lot of new webdesigners / developers using wordpress with no real understanding how it works. In most cases people do not have the slightest clue on how it even works. Wordpress is a solution aimed towards users that do not understand web development, mainly your client if they need a CMS that they can control and understand themselves. But I'm seeing a huge increase of designers / developers relying on Wordpress to do everything for them, resulting in poor CMS delivery and incredibly bloated bad practice websites being delivered to clients.
Most developers would probably find they do not even need wordpress to accomplish their goal for their project if they had only had one month of exposure to any back end programming language.
Premade CMS systems are promoting bad practices and lazy development.
I strongly believe that if you are going to use wordpress you should have atleast a basic understanding in PHP and databases first, it shouldn't be used to make developing websites easier and lazier, it should be used to make end user experiences less comlplicated, but in my opinion wordpress includes far to many options for end users, and if not restricted or removed can cause even more problems for the client in the long run.
This isn't soley aimed at Wordpress and has been happening for a long time, for example in the early 2000's there was many websites appearing that were modified phpBB forums that did not even include forums. Designers and developers were useing phpBB as a framework for user logins instead of taking a couple of hours just to learn how to make a simple stand-a-lone PHP user system.

2,435 PointsWell, i started with PHP, i feel ok with PHP.
WP is an easy and good way to get into the field, meaning do something end exist. Yeah, thats true, customers can easily mess up the site and so on. But for the more stuff, at least me, i want to go into RoR once i get good with WP.
As WP can do the job and support you.
If you know what i mean, thats fomr my point of view and so on.

2,435 PointsI like web stuff, but I'm currently doing HTML,CSS, WP and jQuery. After i want to learn RoR so i have the other part , as WP is not for social sites and so on.
Mainly i want to go into the Obj-C, C# when i get comfortable with web.
And my design, well, i think it's okay. But i can't do any stuff that a designer could do :D
I just take good ideas and merge it with the site im doing.
