Generally in design and development terms iterations are new versions/improvements on a previous version.

iteration

  • a new version of a piece of computer hardware or software. plural noun: iterations

Usually when working on a product you might start with the minimum viable product (MVP) which solves the users problem, and the iterate on this product to improve it with more features and benefits to the user while still solving the original problem.
