What is a reasonable expectation

Below are 3 different job links that I found with their requirements ... and I am usually a fast learner ... but even with this ability ... I am wondering what is a reasonable expectation to have once completing 4 Tracks offered through Treehouse ...

Web Design

Front End Development

PHP Development

WordPress Development

one of the reasons I left a tech college was simply due to the fact that im still not guaranteed a job and I felt like I was so busy doing the homework that I didnt actually have the time to practice what I was learning ...

so what is a reasonable expectation once I go through these tracks that I will be able to attain one of these jobs ... below ... or any other job ...

This isn't a fast track to that industry. All those jobs require 3 - 5 years experience. 2/3 require higher level of education. I think most would recommend you get a college degree. If for whatever reason you can't try getting an unpaid internship to learn the ins and outs.

Hi,

Just sharing... I was marketing trained, with zero background in tech. Started my journey with Treehouse and got myself a job as a UI/UX designer.

Treehouse offers great courses to give you a good overview of industry standards. But, I think finishing the courses alone doesn't grant you those jobs. You would probably need to read some books to deepen your knowledge and practice is key. Start building your portfolio. With a good portfolio, it can grant you a job easily. You can offer to do web development for small companies/ self-employed people or redesigning some sites as a practice.

I got my current job within 3 weeks of job hunt with 3 websites as my portfolio. So, I really do think portfolio is key to exhibiting real practical skill-sets.

Good luck!

I realize its not a fast track ... and yet it is ... since its very focused without a lot of fluff ... That said ... I am able to read and comprehend without a lot of help ... but like anything im a t the mercy of whoever the author is .. one will say .. author 1 us an idiot .. and author 2 will say author 1 is an idiot ... I have plowed through 1000s of forums and the above scenario is common ...

I was told going to a tech college is considered the jv of colleges ... thus offering jv quality degrees ... and in turn have been told 4 year colleges are more prestigious ... but a lot of designers and companies will take someone with no degree and actual exp ... so

To secure a huge amount of debt ... with no actual guarantee that ill get a job is insane ...

Im a single dad that can't afford to be caught out of play ...

So ... my question is ... how will what im being taught ... hold up against any set of job requirements ...

Thanks for your time and input ... Hayden Taylor & Ying Jie Wong

Treehouse will put you in a position to do freelance work.

Look for jobs that say Front-End Developer.

Complete the tracks and build a portfolio then apply to the jobs you want.

Sweet ... thanks ...
