"A Treehouse moderator is basically like a regular member of the Treehouse Community but with extra status to help out students, help out with running the forums and keep things running smoothly.

You'll need to be an active part of the Treehouse community for at least 6 months and at least several thousand Treehouse points to be considered. Other forum members can recommend you as a moderator or you could put yourself forward to be considered by emailing community@teamtreehouse.com."

I quoted Jonathan Grieve from a previous question post.

Hey! Courtney covered it for the most part. We're regular students of Treehouse, just like you! The only difference is that we have full editing privileges on all questions, answers, and comments as if we were the ones that posted it. This is so we can do thinks like prettify code blocks, mark best answers where they're deserved, deal with spam, and filter out anything that's inappropriate for the Community. We're here to make sure that everybody feels safe and comfortable here, has the best learning experience possible, and to generally keep things running smoothly. The vast majority of what we do is provide the best answers we can to as many questions as we know how and wrap unformatted code in Markdown so it's easier for other people to read. We're all volunteers, and we aren't employed by Treehouse, so we can't help with problems like bugs you've encountered or billing or anything like that, though we definitely wish we could!
