What is a window object?

Just finished watching Andrew's video on the Window object, but he never fully explained what exactly this window object refers to. Is it simply the window that we're viewing the site in or something more abstract?

Additionally, what's the point(s) of looking at your code inside the window? What's the point of manipulating code inside the window? How does the window differ from the console, as both appear to show your code and allow you to manipulate code on the fly?

Thanks!

Hi nekilof,

Better known as THE window object, it represents a window containing a DOM document. All web pages exist in a window which renders its DOM document to the page.

MDN has a great source of information on the window object if you are interested. MDN window article
