What is landing page?

Thanks :)

Landing page is a page that your customer or your user visit the first time. This page explains what your website or business do. For new startups, this page is used to tell their ideas to the public and find out if anyone interest in it (via register or email subscription).

For example: https://www.khanacademy.org/ (New user will see a page that say "You can learn anythings") or in https://www.myvessyl.com the customer will see product information.

I think a 'landing page' is typically a marketing page that encourages your visitor to do something specific such as: subscribe to a newsletter, buy a product, or send an email. Because you are trying to get them to do something specific, you could for example remove global navigation and instead have a big call to action at the top of the page. On the other hand, minimalism is more a design philosphy. A minimalist design would say only use one font-family and have a small color palette. In general, I'd say that landing pages are minimal in design, but they wouldn't have to be as long as you get the visitor to do what you want.

Oh so it is for marketing purposes... Thanks :)
