What is the best approach for a newbie to understand swift?

Hey guys, aspiring developer here wondering which methods you guys recommend that I use when trying to pick up on swift. I have so far completed the basics and I have an okay idea about functions and optionals. I am starting with Enums right now but I have noticed that using the playground and following along with the videos makes me feel like I am memorizing what is being done rather than learning it. When the exercise questions come up I find them easy since they are not as hard as the some of the concepts being taught in the video before.

Any tips on how I can pick this new language up faster would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for answering!

I've always found that giving yourself small challenges is a really helpful way to figure out a new language. Working through beginner, intermediate, and advanced tutorials is always helpful as well, but most of the time you end up just copying code as you go along and perhaps not fully understanding why it's being done that particular way. I know for me it's always been helpful to give myself a mini project where I can actually use the skills I am learning and then if I hit a brick wall I can turn to the forum for assistance or use Google, Stack Overflow, etc. to learn more.

Thank you all who answered. I will definitely try everything that was mentioned!
