Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types Splitting and Joining

what is the difference between the function that has .join and .format?

in the example, my favorite flavors are : "+ ', '.join(flavors) and my favorite flavors are: ',' {}.format(flavors), the same results were returned. what is the point of format?

1 Answer

Are you sure you are getting the same results??

I believe there would be difference.

For example:

str = "formatting list {}"
lis = ["1", "2", "3"]
str.format(lis)

#output will be, "formatting list ['1', '2', '3']"

whereas,

str = "formatting list {}"
lis = ["1", "2", "3"]
str.format(", ".join(list))

#output will be, 'formatting list 1, 2, 3'
