Understand the basics of Java but there is no track for this. I wanted to learn both Ruby and JS. Which one would be a better start. I know that is like asking do I take French or Italian.

42,016 Pointsthe ruby tutorials are probably the most difficult on treehouse. Lots of command line use, unfamiliar concepts, automated testing. I learned a lot from them, but it was a pretty grueling experience. Huge project as well compared to some of the others on here. If I were to do things over again I would do JS, then PHP, then ruby.

1,396 PointsTrying to be a web developer without knowing JS is like trying to be in international business without knowing English.

Courses Plus Student 19,663 PointsI would say Ruby but you would need some knowledge of HTML and CSS. I started Ruby and it blew my mind. Ensure you use Ruby 1.9.3 and Rails 3.2.x if you follow the videos on here. Good luck with your learning
