This isn't the first time I've asked this question but here goes :)
A couple of months ago I made a decision. I made a choice of my next goal between Java and Game Development. To begin with the draw toward Game Development was too much and I went straight ahead and started the Game track with great interest.
Now I feel like I'm at another crossroads. The Game Development track requires a lot of time to learn, get into and at least 2 specialist software program to devote time to, one of which isn't cheap to learn. Indeed by this time the Treehouse perk for Maya has been discontinued so I can't get the extended free trial.
I'm downloading an alternative called blender as I speak so I can follow the Maya Modelling course and I will look at the program and see if I can follow the course.
But to be honest, I don't see a professional future for myself in Game Development. The only motivation I have to get into it is personal interest to see if I can do something exciting with it and to see what I can learn. But it feels far too involving to get into the industry with nothing more than casual interest.
Should I just pack the track in now and go on to Java and leave take the Game courses individually? This would be the first time I've not followed through on a track. :)
Thanks

9,302 Pointssee there is no use of tracks if your'e not doing them by heart and learning the skills properly. There is no use of just completing a track just for the sake of completing it. Instead you should deeply understand the concepts so that you can use them in your own future projects. So id say if you're not finding interest in the Game Development track then just pause it for the movement and start up with a new track in which you Are truly INTERESTED.
If you are interested in the GAME DEVELOPMENT track then dont give up . Try to put in a few hours each day and it will pay off!

Treehouse Moderator 91,254 PointsHi Saif,
Thanks for replying! Yes, I took the decision to switch from Game Development a long time ago. Actually, it's a really great system that Treehouse doesn't lock you into completing a Track and you can switch between them at any time.
I have learning difficulties (maybe even disabilities) so I find myself having to pace myself and making decisions as to my focus all the time. I did go back to Java and eventually made Android Development my learning goal for 2017.
But then, something told me it was time to focus more on Web Development again so this is what I am doing. That's where my current motivation is. :-)
