what tech degree is best for me?

i want to create a website that allows users to post live streams & for those streams to be saved on the website in particular categories. i also want ppl to be able to host live workshops & charge viewers to watch. Im familiar with html, css, java, & javascript, what tech degree would help me the most.

I would highly recommend the Full Stack JavaScript course. I think what you are trying to make is more along the lines of a web application, and the FSJS techdegree course should help you to achieve your goals. I could be wrong, and if I am someone please correct me.

i see that you have a full stack javascript tech degree, have you acquired skill to the point where you can actually use javascript and the other skills offered as you please or do you feel like you can only redo the steps they show you while obtaining your tech degree.

The projects that they give you reinforce a lot of the concepts that are shown to you in the curriculum. They also require that you "roll your own"; you can't really use someone else's solution for your project. The short answer would be: Yes, I feel very confident that I can do what I want with my skills and not have to just redo the steps they give me in the videos. I hope that helps.

By the way, I'm not a graduate. I'm actually halfway finished with my degree :)

sorry, but i have one more question. how different is the learning environment of the tech degree courses from the regular treehouse courses? Are they the same except at the end of the tech degree you get a teamtreehouse certification?

What makes the techdegree so much more valuable than your traditional courses really boils down to the projects and the community. Having the projects there as a means of reinforcing the lessons that you've reviewed really drills it into your brain. You'll have a lot of "AHA" moments when doing them. The community interaction is also really helpful. Getting input from other developers, treehouse students, teachers, etc will really assist you in growing your skills. You can always just watch the courses with your current membership and do test projects on your own. In some cases that works for people. I know that having a guided curriculum has really helped me out a lot though. Hope that helps!
