I would recommend front end development. I say this because I believe it is a good foundation and would enable you to easily add on php on top of the learned knowledge. Plus in terms of employment, I would believe that the front end development experience is higher sought after.

I am just under halfway with the front end tech degree, and honestly say that it is a great foundation to start with. Getting into Javascript stuff as we speak, which is opening a whole new side to the web. Having this under your belt, I think will be exponentially better in finding employment. PHP/Laraval will be icing on the cake, especially when you have been through a language already (Javascript).
