I get the message Bummer! "mFirstName" should have passed, but "mFirstName" was reported.
public class TeacherAssistant {
public static String validatedFieldName(String fieldName) {
// These things should be verified:
// 1. Member fields must start with an 'm'
// 2. The second letter in the field name must be uppercased to ensure camel-casing
// NOTE: To check if something is not equal use the != symbol. eg: 3 != 4
if (fieldName.indexOf(0)!='m') {
throw new IllegalArgumentException("mFirstName") ;
}
if (!Character.isUpperCase(fieldName.indexOf(1))) {
throw new IllegalArgumentException("Must be camel-cased");
}
return fieldName;
}
}

Treehouse Moderator 48,850 PointsI replaced your calls to indexOf() to charAt() and was able to get it to pass. You pass indexOf() a char and it returns an int that will be -1, if the character was not found; If the character was found the method will return the char's index. You pass charAt() an index value and it will return a char (i.e. a letter) which you can use for comparison.
