429 PointsWhat version of Java is being taught in the beginning Java videos?
I started with the beginning Java tutorials.... I am seeing commands like console.printf("$s is a name", <variable name>); couldn't we just use something like system.out.println("<variable name> is a name"); ? How old is the version of Java being taught?

66,191 PointsHey, println and printf are two different things. And the latest version of Java is being taught. Println prints text on a page with a new line after it. Prinf formats a variable into a line of text. When I first learned that I was confused too.
