Mike Aquan-Assee and I are building a tool to help designers/developers in their job search. We have a basic mockup and want your input.
As you apply to jobs, what are the things that frustrate you? / What would you like to see in a tool to improve your job search?

The main thing that would help me would be a trusted source of information about what paths are worth going down. I've been wondering whether doing challenges on somewhere like CodeEval is worth my time as a way of building a record of something.
Also, should there be a comma in "Welcome back Mike!"? (--> "Welcome back, Mike!")

It's being planned as a tool to keep track of what you've done. No apply button in the app is planned as of yet...
"The main thing that would help me would be a trusted source of information about what paths are worth going down." What you're looking for is trusted strategies for applying, for marketing yourself, etc...?
I'll check my grammar book about that comma ;-)

Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 84,738 PointsWhat I mean is that there's lot of different places telling me to use their service, do this thing, take this course, and it will lead to high paying jobs. I would like a realistic, less hyped, honest view at all these different options to help sort it all out and figure out what to do next.

12,347 PointsI understand what you mean. Theres a lot out there. I've found that a combination of quantity and quality of applications really matters during application process. You have to have both.
As well I am learning strategies for emailing employers as well as getting responses and interviews. Are you interested in those strategies?

Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 84,738 PointsI'm not quite there yet. I'm still figuring out how my skill set fits into what's out there and what skills I should acquire.

Hi Brendan, Thanks for your feedback. It is true that right now, learning coding skills is popular and there are a lot of startup education companies trying to profit from the trend. Programming isn't easy to learn, or enjoyable for many! and therefore people who are good at it, are in demand and paid well for their skills. Focus on and pursue what languages or area interests you and become competent in that, and then you will easily find jobs that are well paid. Try out different ways of learning and courses to see which ones work best for you.
