What's the Treehouse Club?

Hey,

I just saw in the upcoming courses that some upcoming lessons are preceded by "Treehouse club - ". I couldn't find anything on the blog that explains it; does anyone know what it means?

Thanks

I imagine it's just a fresh new way of bringing in new learning content for a variety of topics. I do think some content is lacking in some topics which I know Treehouse is addressing constantly by bringing out new courses.

Joy Kesten - What say you on the term Treehouse club?

Hi all,

Thanks for your interest! Treehouse Club is a series of hacker courses. The courses are designed for ages 9 - 14, however I think a wide range of kids and adults would benefit.

These projects are different than other Treehouse courses because you're given the whole code in Workspaces right off the bat. Therefore you can change or not change anything you want and still be successful.

As you've seen the first stage is live, the second and third are shot and scheduled to come out the beginning of Sept. Once the all three projects are on the website, I'll put them into a track called Treehouse Club with a trailer that explain all of this.

Please let me know if you still have questions, hopefully I'll be able to answer :)

Best, Joy

What's on the syllabus for the 2nd and 3rd stages?

Is it just HTML? Or are you going to cover CSS & JavaScript too in the track?

They are all HTML based, but the second course introduces CSS and the third introduces JavaScript.

Awesome idea!

Are the individuals in the Treehouse Club (kids and others in the group) referred to as Tadpoles? ;-)

Sean T. Unwin - Because they are little Mike the Frogs?

I would think they would be saplings

Yeah, tadpoles can't climb into a tree either, so I'm not sure where that leaves us.

People have mentioned treebies before

A treehouse does not need to be in the top of a tree, although it is implied. It could be on the bottom, therefore no climbing involved. So yeah, that leaves us... needing to be raked? #puns4thewin anyone, anyone? *crickets* I'll see myself out.

I leaf you with a request, as you come across treebies, saplings, and tadpoles, find out what they would like to be called and let me know. We can branch out from there :)
