What's wrong with my code? It seems there are 9 errors, but nothing different from the teacher.

This is my code: import java.io.Console;

public class TreeStory {

public static void main(String[] args) {
    Console console = System.console();
    /*  Some terms:
        noun - Person, place or thing
        verb - An action
        adjective - A description used to modify or describe a noun
        Enter your amazing code here!
    */
  //__Name__ is a __adjective__ __noun__. They are always
  String ageAsString = console.readLine("How old are you?  ");
  int age = Integer.parseInt(ageAsString);
  if (age < 13) {
    //Insert exit code
    console.printf("Sorry you must be at least 13 to use this program.\n");
  System.exit(0);
  }
  String name = console.readLine("Enter a name:  ");
  String adjective = console.readLine("Enter an adjective:  ");
  String noun;
  do {
    noun = console.readLine("Enter a noun:  ");
    if (noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") ||
        noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk"))|| {
      console.printf("That language is not allowed. Try Again. \n\n");
    }
  } while(noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") || noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk"));
  String adverb = console.readLine("Enter an adjective:  ");
  String verb = console.readLine("Enter a verb ending with -ing:  ");

  console.printf("Your TreeStory:\n-----------\n");
  console.printf("%s is a %s %s.  ", name, adjective, noun);
  console.printf("They are always %s %s. \n", adverb, verb);
}

}

What's wrong with it? It seems to be the same as the teacher's.

Would you be able to post the link to the video/challenge where this code was first introduced?

The error you got means that you are either missing a closing curly brace or you have an extra curly brace. Make sure that all of them are accounted for.

I commented what I changed:

import java.io.Console;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;

public class javaExample {

  public static void main(String[] args) {
    Console console = System.console();
    /*  Some terms:
        noun - Person, place or thing
        verb - An action
        adjective - A description used to modify or describe a noun
        Enter your amazing code here!
    */
  //__Name__ is a __adjective__ __noun__. They are always
  String ageAsString = console.readLine("How old are you?  ");
  int age = Integer.parseInt(ageAsString);
  if (age < 13) {
    //Insert exit code
    console.printf("Sorry you must be at least 13 to use this program.\n");
  System.exit(0);
  }
  String name = console.readLine("Enter a name:  ");
  String adjective = console.readLine("Enter an adjective:  ");
  String noun = ""; // initialized the variable with empty quotes here
  do {
    noun = console.readLine("Enter a noun:  ");
    if (noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") ||
        noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk")) {         // removed an extra '||' here
      console.printf("That language is not allowed. Try Again. \n\n");
    }
  } while(noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") || noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk"));
  String adverb = console.readLine("Enter an adjective:  ");
  String verb = console.readLine("Enter a verb ending with -ing:  ");

  console.printf("Your TreeStory:\n-----------\n");
  console.printf("%s is a %s %s.  ", name, adjective, noun);
  console.printf("They are always %s %s. \n", adverb, verb);
}

}

Thanks Jeremy, however, I still get an error, it reads:

TreeStory.java:37: error: reached end of file while parsing
}
^
1 error
treehouse:~/workspace$

I took your comments and implemented them,

import java.io.Console;

public class TreeStory {

public static void main(String[] args) { Console console = System.console(); /* Some terms: noun - Person, place or thing verb - An action adjective - A description used to modify or describe a noun Enter your amazing code here! */ //Name is a adjective noun. They are always String ageAsString = console.readLine("How old are you? "); int age = Integer.parseInt(ageAsString); if (age < 13) { //Insert exit code console.printf("Sorry you must be at least 13 to use this program.\n"); System.exit(0); } String name = console.readLine("Enter a name: "); String adjective = console.readLine("Enter an adjective: "); String noun = ""; do { noun = console.readLine("Enter a noun: "); if (noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") || noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk")) { console.printf("That language is not allowed. Try Again. \n\n"); } } while(noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") || noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk")); String adverb = console.readLine("Enter an adjective: "); String verb = console.readLine("Enter a verb ending with -ing: ");

console.printf("Your TreeStory:\n-----------\n"); console.printf("%s is a %s %s. ", name, adjective, noun); console.printf("They are always %s %s. \n", adverb, verb);

}

Try adding a curly brace at the end of your code and see if that fixes it.
