When do I Start a personal portfolio Website.

When do you think you have enough work to show off that you can confidently start a portfolio Website

I'd say you can make an "about me" or "resume" site even if you don't have enough for a portfolio yet.

Ah... I think the breaking point doesn't even exist. There are always better designers, coders.

So, I just put it online and iterate it.

Really, there is nothing to worry, just do it.

Here is my website if you'd like to have a look [http://www.shijn.com]

If you have more than one piece, you can start building that portfolio. You can always add more as you go along.

Also worth remembering that the site itself acts as a portfolio piece, it shows your skills in the design and build for example and is a good way to practice and refine your skills.

Dan Ridley,

I'd say design & build one right away if you can. Even if it's a simple blog where you write about what you're learning. You'll soon find out that writing about what you learn will help you understand a lot of the concepts in Web design & dev –– it promotes clear thinking.

Michael Shi's site is a perfect example of this. And like he said, "there is nothing to worry, just do it." :)

Thank you everyone. You have all been inspiring. I have some work ahead of me and I am excited about it! I only have 1 website to showcase right now but it is a start at least. I have more projects I am going through now.

Guil Hernandez I definitely like the blog idea and might go that way. I will probably not use a CMS and but post blog post by writing new HTML.
