where the challenges in jquery?

ive yet to see a challenge. these pathetic "challenges" that the instructor put literally tell you what to put and where to put it. im halfway into the jquery and every challenge is like that. jquery so far is the biggest disappoinemtn on treehouse so far

It may just be a scheduling issue. I know they have a lot of stuff in production. But if the critical comments are as prevalent as you say, I can't imagine they would overlook it entirely.

There's also a lot to JQuery that wasn't covered. This could be an opportunity for an advanced level course. I'd certainly enjoy taking one of those myself.

You didn't actually ask a question, so this is not actually an answer.

The Treehouse programs are about learning, not skill assessment. My understanding is that the challenges and quizzes are all designed to help the student learn and retain new information. The listen/see - do - answer cycle helps "burn in" in the information. I find it an effective combination.

If you're interested in skill assessment, you might take a look at Brainbench. I've found their certification exams very challenging indeed.

have you went through the jquery challenges? compare it to the python/java/javascript challenges. THOSE are challenges. THOSE made me sit down and think and use the learned knowledge to solve a neat problem. THIS jquery DOES NOT make me sit down and think. it makes me COPY & PASTE the answer from the instructions. andrew is an example of someone who DOES NOT put TIME AND EFFORT into making challenges in a way that makes it beneficial to students unlike other teachers.

i am aware about treehouse. i am not a new user. i am just new to jquery track and it is quite an utter disappointment

Well, I have taken the JQuery course, but I don't remember having any specific impression of the challenges.

I guess the bottom line is: does the course do a good job of teaching you JQuery? If you don't think so, you're doing the right thing to speak up. If many folks feel that way, perhaps the course needs revision. It would certainly not be the first course Treehouse has reworked.

FYI - I have no relationship with Treehouse except as a user/student.

the jquery track is the first course on treehouse where i have actually seen lots of criticism under the video comments. i see a lot of people confused and saying that explanations are not given. I FULLY agree with them. it is quite hard to follow along when things get rushed.

dave mcfarland used animations here and there to demonstrate how variables, loops, etc worked. it would be nice to see animations used to explain how certain jquery methods work.

seeing how no change was made in the past 6 months, i dont think treehouse will rework jquery
