Where to begin with available topics

Is it recommended to start with Web Design and move through the other topics? Or try them all a little bit at a time?

I've been focusing on Web Design so far, but I'm reviewing the Ruby on Rails now. Just curious if there is a common path.

Also, the video stutters fairly consistently on Chrome/Firefox. Internet seems fine other than that and performing a refresh of the webpage seems to help in most problem situations.

Regarding the video stuttering here are a few things to try:

  • Try using incognito or privacy mode
  • Try another computer
  • It's possible it's one of your extensions, try disabling them one at a time to see if you can narrow down the issue

If you take a look at the Become a Web Developer learning adventure you will see the suggested course is to learn HTML & CSS before proceeding into Ruby on Rails.

The reason for this is that HTML & CSS are the foundations on which all web-based properties are based.

Sure as James suggests HTML & CSS are the core foundations upon which web properties are build so it's wiser to go through them first before diving into Ruby. But still this is not a requirement but it makes you a better web developer.
