14,146 PointsWhich is more marketable, js/jq or PHP?
I'm planning on learning both. But I want to know which one will get me a job faster and give me a larger, more marketable skill set. I know PHP is server-side and JS is client side. The Web design track has me learning JS, but doesn't mention PHP. Does anyone with a Web related job have any advice?
Thanks!

5,810 PointsReally I would say PHP over JS/JQuery. JS/JQuery can do the fancy stuff, but PHP can do the heavy lifting. So PHP to do all the development, then JS/JQuery to make the user experience awesome!

34 PointsIt depends on what field you'd like to go into. In web design, you'll be expected to perform both graphic and web assignments with knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and the Adobe Creative Suite. I've never seen PHP required for a front-end design job. On the web development side of things, you'll typically be expected to know HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, and Git with knowledge of some front-end frameworks and other JS libraries.
Both are marketable, but it just depends on what position you're most interested in. Treehouse courses are definitely built around the careers for which they prepare you.
