iOS

whooooosh over my head!

I am on the iPhone learning adventure and completed the first task introduction to programming, I found this interesting and easy to follow and was quite enjoying it.

After this it moves into programming for iPhone and while I understand some of the concepts used such as arrays and strings etc it is throwing in a lot of new words which left me feeling quite lost and just copying the videos without understanding 100% why I was typing what I was typing.

Anyone else completed this learning adventure who felt the same way? If so what other resources did you use to get an understanding of it all?

honestly i kinda started like you, but my trick is just rewatch and (assuming you did the first code challenge) redo code challenges. so i was stuck for a will on the first code challenge, i spend an hour on it but eventually i got it. i would also recommend the iOS dev library but if you don't get the treehouse vids you should probably just keep at it. let me know if it helps. I've felt the same way when I first started out the Learning Adventure, the best advice I can give you is to experiment with what you have learned. Play around with things and soon you'll be able to understand why something does what. Good luck!

Hi guys thanks for the responses, its good to get a few resources, tips and the knowledge that I am not alone.

I would also recommend that you pick up a book on Objective-C.

Hi Amit

Thanks for the response, I have been going through an objective-c tutorial on codeschool and the code in the crystal ball app is now starting to look a bit more recognisable and make sense to me so I am going to go through your videos again and hopefully I will be able to follow along a bit more.
