Who's got a better job market? Android or iOS?

http://insights.wired.com/profiles/blogs/for-the-first-time-android-jobs-outpace-ios-jobs#axzz3xL5uw68f

I found this article about the mobile job market. It states that android jobs have a higher demand than iOS jobs. The problem is that the article is a little old. Does anyone know if this is still current? I've done a few searches on indeed.com and it seems to me that there's more iOS jobs.

Hi Daniel!

It will really depend on area more than anything. Some areas may have more Android whereas other areas will have more iOS. It is like this because of how split the different phone OS' are and the fact that neither of them look like they are going to back down anytime soon.

In terms of being an individual developer though I heard that the same app on iOS earns more money than the same app on Android even though Android has more active users. This is because your average iOS consumer is more likely to pay for an app or an in-app purchase than their Android counterpart.

I hope that I managed to help you out here!

Luke, thank you so much for your advice. I'm starting to think that when it comes to work it's almost a toss up. I live in the country, so my options for employment as an app developer are somewhat limited. I feel like my only option is to work remotely. I'm just wandering which platform would get me the most exposure as far as employment goes.

Yeah if you are living in the country then there maybe aren't so many jobs available in either for you right now. In that case I would just suggest that you pick whichever platform excites you the most. What phone do you have?

Maybe choose depending on what phone you have. I have, personally, developed for both Android and iOS and I always found that I did like iOS that slight bit more so I went ahead and bought myself an iPhone.

You really just need to think of what platform you prefer and then stick with it. Money is about the same in both and, plus, if you are basing your decision just on money instead of what you would have the must fun with you're not going to have a good time.

No problem, I'm really glad I could help you out!
