General Discussion

Why do some people get speedy replies while others get no reply at all?

Just wondering how you discriminate which questions you answer and which ones get ignored?

Depends on whose looking at the forum. Im more comfortable with iOS so I tend to answer more iOS questions than any other topic. Also easier questions get answered faster because more people know the answer.

Depends on the question and the structure of the question, Admins/mods tend to answer sooner or later (but not always right away). I guess busy schedules. Also, in order to post on this forum you must be an active member of Treehouse, so there is always that. If you have a burning coding question that isn't specific to a Treehouse challenge, you could always use Stackoverflow.com, you'll surely get a quick answer over there. Various IRC channels have been helpful in the past for me as well.

Thanks Stone for your reply.

William, not sure where your going with that, as I am an active member of Treehouse thats why I'm on the forum. If your not an active member you can't ask questions on the forum can you? All my questions begin with a path to the challenge for precision. The original question was regarding challenges. If I have to go to an IRC or stackoverlfow for answers to questions on challenges then why pay for membership?

Unless you are a member, you can not ask or answer a question on the forums. Thus limiting the number of users who will participate in an answer for your question to only teamtreehouse.com members. This is not a bad thing, but sometimes there are alternatives that are quicker, places that have a vast network of users who are online and active 24/7.

This is why I suggested Stackoverflow.com for those "speedy replies". Unless it is super specific to a particular challenge, the code is universal and they can help, especially with syntax issues.

Otherwise, just wait and someone will eventually see your post and maybe try to help.

Asking a good question is a skill. Better questions lead to better answers.
