why does firefox require these -moz- vendor prefixes?

What is the point of requiring these -moz- prefixes? I can't imagine that pleases people who need to write a lot of html/css.

Newer versions of firefox dont anymore and -moz- vendor prefixes will generally return as invalid vendor prefixes in w3c's css validator.

Check out; http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_browsersupport.asp

for vendor prefixes and browser compatibility. As you can see, most of the -moz- prefixes disappeared around version 16 or earlier, and the current version of Firefox is 34+.

-webkit- is still used a decent amount, but mostly for Safari.
