Why does the child view change the URL?

Adding child content doesn't change the fact that you're still on the home page so doesn't this potentially confuse the app user as to where he is in the app structure?

The URL is updated to indicate that the current state is featured. The resultant page is the same as if the user navigated to "/#!//featured".

And technically you're always on the homepage, since it's a single-page application!
