Why is it important to make tests?

I´m watching the course of Build a Todo List Application with Rails 4 and I just don´t understand why I have to do tests if I can do validations with active records.

1) To practice writing RSPEC tests, 2) To get used to TDD, 3) When you change something in the future (or someone who works with you), tests will make sure you didn't break something along the way.

I agree, validation tests may be considered a bit useless, but they won't hurt :). Besides, these feature tests are also checking if your app behaves the way you intended. The validations themselves won't ensure proper redirects and content on the page,
