why is len(list......is used instead of just len(string....?

why is len(list(string......is used instead of just len(string....?

len(list(string we are looking for the length of the string within a list so the string is contained in a list. Whereas len(string we are just looking for the length of a string so the string is self contained if that makes any sense. Still learning myself I hope this is helpful.
