why is my code not working?

player = {'name': 'John', 'remaining_lives':3, 'levels':1,2,3,4,'items':'Josh',5} print('name','remaining_lives','levels','items')

dicts.py
player = {'name': 'John', 'remaining_lives':3, 'levels':1,2,3,4,'items':'Josh',5}
print('name','remaining_lives','levels','items')

'levels':1,2,3,4

this is not how you define a list.

You define a list with:

'levels':[1,2,3,4]
'items':'Josh',5

this is not how you define a dictionary. It should be:

'items' : {'Josh' : 5}

player = {"name":"John", "remaining_lives":3, "levels"[1,2,3,4],"items":{"josh":1}} print("name", "remaining_lives","levels","items")

still not working?

You forgot the : after "levels"
