Can anyone tell me why my code isnt being accepted ?
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(sentence):
wordList = sentence.split(" ")
dic = {}
for i in wordList:
dic[i.lower()] = sentence.count(i)
return dic

28,538 Pointsbecause this line of code counts, how many times in sentence word appears:
dic[i.lower()] = sentence.count(i)
so for example if you've a sentence:
"i do not like it Sam i Am"
the dic["i"] would be 4, should be 2.

2,385 PointsHello. I was having this problem too. It turns out when you .split(" ") you are only splitting the spaces between words, whereas .split() splits at all white spaces such as tabbing. This is what I saw in a post on another page.
