why is my 'isFullyCharged' method not showing equality between barCount and MAX_BARS?

public boolean isFullyCharged(){ barCount = MAX_BARS; }

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public final static int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }

  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged(){
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty(){
    return barCount == 0;
  }

}

That's because instead of checking equality, you're setting barCount equal to MAX_BARS.

Instead, you need to return a boolean and check equality using double equals instead of single:

public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return (barCount == MAX_BARS);
}
