Android Build an Interactive Story App (Retired) Intents and Multiple Activities Putting Data in an Intent

Why is the challenge set different from the actual video?

It is VERY confusing that the video has a private void method and an onClick method while this challenge merges both of them into an onClick method. By omitting code for mFuelLevel seting, brevity is achieved at the cost of comprehension. This is a very confusing challenge, which defeats the purpose of the video. This code does not work. Am I setting there paramater? where is the parameter I only see view. Am i supposed to use putExtra? No, that is not working.

LaunchActivity.java

import android.os.Bundle;

  public Button mLaunchButton;
  public int mFuelLevel;

  @Override
  protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.activity_launch);

    // mFuelLevel is set elsewhere.
    // Code ommitted for brevity!

    mLaunchButton = (Button)findViewById(R.id.launchButton);
    mLaunchButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
      @Override
      public void onClick(View v) {
        intent.putExtra("mFuelLevel", mFuelLevel);
        Intent intent = new Intent(LaunchActivity.this, FlightActivity.class);
        startActivity(intent);
      }
    });
  }
