Java

Why is this code not working?

public class TeacherAssistant {

  public static String validatedFieldName(String fieldName) {
    // These things should be verified:
    // 1. Member fields must start with an 'm'
    // 2. The second letter in the field name must be uppercased to ensure camel-casing
    if (fieldName.indexOf(0) != 'm' || Character.isLowerCase(fieldName.indexOf(1))) {
          throw new IllegalArgumentException("You're not following the style we talked about");
        }

    return fieldName;
  }

}

There are no syntax errors, but the logical error in which the system is reporting back to me: Bummer! "mFirstName" should have passed, but "You're not following the style we talked about" was reported.

:point_right: "indexOf" is a search function that you don't need here.

You want the index at, which can be done by subscripting using brackets("[]").

For example, instead of "fieldName.indexOf(1)" you probably just want "fieldName[1]".

You should use charAt instead of indexOf. This however isn't enough to solve the task, but now you should be able to continue the bug-hunting.

Hope this helps.
