Why isn't this 'if' statement working working? The exercise keeps saying 'Bummer: Try again!'

I'm doing exactly as I am told, and exactly as Craig did in the video. Why is it not working?

Equality.java
// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.
String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";
if (firstExample.equals(secondExample)) {
  console.printf("first is equal to second");
  System.exit(0);
}

Hi there, Seán Kennedy! Close, but not quite. While the System.exit(0) might have been shown in the video, but it was not asked for in this challenge. In general, it's a great idea to try not`to do anything not explicitly asked for by the challenge. I think the problem here might be that it's exiting before it has graded your code :smiley:

Simply removing the System.exit(0) causes your code to pass the first step of the challenge so well done! :sparkles:
