You are on the right track but you dont need quotes around your variable.
<?php
$flavor="coco";
echo "<p>Your favorite flavor of ice cream is ";
echo $flavor;
echo ".</p>";
echo "<p>Hal's favorite flavor is cookie dough, also!</p>";
?>

28,694 PointsRemoving the quotes as Peter suggests will make you pass the test. You should be able to use variable binds in double quoted strings, but for whatever reason, here it won't let you (sometimes it does). I can for instance run your code in a sandbox and get the following response:
<p>Your favorite flavor of ice cream is coco.</p><p>Hal's favorite flavor is cookie dough, also!</p>
