General Discussion

Will companies hire novice designers/programmers 35 and over?

I'm transitioning from a tech sales career. I'm tired of being in sales, and I have always loved tech. But, I'm 35. So, does that mean there's no hope for me? Am I relegated to going the freelance/begging route because I'm no longer a spring chicken?

More about me: I just started w/Treehouse, but I have been learning coding, on my own, for about seven months now...

Thanks...

I don't see why not, the big issue is convincing them that you can do the job because you aren't "fresh out of college" do up a bit of a portfolio, advertise to do a few smaller site for friends or local bands or something for free to help build your portfolio, i'm a big believer in proven experience / portfolios are worth 1,000 qualifications.

Makes sense.

Bottom line is if your good enough you will get hired (says a 41 year old)

I hope you're right...

I'm 38 and I was able to get a development job. There's plenty of hope for the 35+ age bracket.

Really? Congrats =) =)
