Hi, isn't it more convenient and less code to just make a checkPhone() method and do the RegEx validation inside?

230,274 PointsYou didn't link to a page or mention what course you are taking, but it could be that your course is showing you an example of how to create getter and setter methods, The course examples simply illustrate the concept being taught, and are not necessarily most efficient way to implement the process the example performs.
