Wondering when the next android tutorial might get published?

I realize there's probably allot of work involved, but would appreciate an approximate timeline (hours, days, weeks or months).

If you're hesitant to say which you think it is, it's generally safe to push it up a category :)

Hi Gary,

Our next Android stage should be released January 31st, although that's only an estimate and could be off by a few days.

For upcoming release dates, check out our Roadmap: http://teamtreehouse.com/roadmap

@Gary - sorry about this latest delay! This next stage is a long one but we are looking good for the 31st assuming things go as planned. If you're interested, here are two sites you could take a look at as pre-reading for the upcoming stage.

No stress, I will take a look at the links this evening :)

My company (primarily .DotNET, but wanting to grow our skills into multiple languages) is looking to bring it's android and IOS development in house, our UK branch decided it would be 'cheaper' to outsource it locally in the UK so now we have several thousand lines of spaghetti code that scrapes one of our in house apps :D

My biggest questions for Android development involve layouts as that seems to be the most difficult piece as compared to the same functionality in IOS.

The 'under the cover web services' components / repositories will likely be similar to other components we've already built. However it's always great to see and learn from other approaches.

My first Android project was refactoring HORRIBLE code from an outsourced company. Every single activity had duplicate functionality, layout components, and didn't follow any kind of standard or convention. :)

I will go into more depth regarding layouts in a future project, but we haven't touched on it too much at Treehouse yet. In the meantime, there is a lot of good information on the Developer site about layouts:

One helpful trick is to define common layout components in separate files and include them in multiple layout files:

I've been working with Android for over a year now, and while learning iOS here I've been going to the Android videos just to brush up on some basic techniques. I've been waiting for the JSON parser though. Haven't had a chance to work on any projects requiring it. Keep em' coming!

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to post the links!
